HaTomechet

Hatomechet is a community based service which arranges for volunteers to become companions for people facing the end of life stage. Hatomechet volunteers are available between 2-4 hours per week to be a support to the patient and his or her family. This may include spending leisure time with the patient, taking walks, assisting with visits to medical appointments, helping with grooming, reading, doing crafts, assisting with meals or simply having a conversation. In short, the volunteer is a flexible, compassionate and mature person whose goal is to extend the support system of the patient and family as they move through the challenges of life threatening illness.

Volunteers are there for the patient and their family. They maintain strict confidentiality and discretion and first and foremost respect the dignity, boundaries and culture of the patient of this family.

National locations: Hatomechet volunteers are now available in the center, south and north of Israel.
